StatSheet's Southland Player of the Week for January 16th goes to Texas-Arlington's LaMarcus Reed III. Nicholls State's Trevon Lewis has been recognized as StatSheet Southland Freshman of the Week. And finally, Texas-Arlington's Bradley Gay has taken StatSheet's Southland 6th Man of the Week.

Reed III finished first in the Southland in scoring (22.0 pts per game) and three pointers (4.5 per game). He also put up 60% shooting and 6.5 rebounds per game. The Texas-Arlington senior marched the Mavericks to victories against Sam Houston State and Lamar.

Reed III led all scoring for the Mavericks with 19 points while adding 5 rebounds in a big 66-40 win against Sam Houston State. He then led all scoring and rebounding with a 25 point and 8 rebound performance in a 91-82 win against Lamar.

This is the first time that LaMarcus Reed III has been named the StatSheet Southland Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is senior Patrick Richard from McNeese State. Honorable mention goes to junior Vonn Jones from Texas State. The highest ranking player from Sam Houston State was DeMarcus Gatlin who finished 15th.

StatSheet Southland Freshman of the Week: Nicholls State's Trevon Lewis

Trevon Lewis was on the floor an average of 28 minutes as a starter for Nicholls State. He led all Southland freshmen in scoring (15.0 pts per game), rebounding (5.5 per game), and blocked shots (1.5 per game). In an 80-79 loss to Northwestern State, Lewis registered 14 points and 8 rebounds. In a 75-65 loss to Sam Houston State, he led scoring with 16 points and rebounding with 3.

This is a repeat honor for Trevon Lewis, making it the second time he has won StatSheet Southland Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Craig McFerrin from McNeese State. Honorable mention goes to Shane Rillieux from Nicholls State.

StatSheet Southland 6th Man of the Week: Texas-Arlington's Bradley Gay

Senior Bradley Gay, a 6-4 guard, averaged 21 minutes over the two games for the Mavericks. In the win over Sam Houston State, Gay got 5 points and 3 rebounds. After that, in the win over Lamar, he racked up 7 points and 3 assists.

This is Bradley Gay's first StatSheet Southland 6th Man of the Week award this season. Jonathan King, a junior forward from Stephen F. Austin, is runner up. Taylor Smith, a junior forward from Stephen F. Austin, earns honorable mention. Sam Houston State has one StatSheet Southland Player of the Week win this season.
